"True Love" is a series of illustrations by Vicki Cheung Wing Yan that beautifully captures the concept of love. Inspired by the observation of an old couple holding hands, the illustrations aim to express love in a simple and heartfelt way. In Chinese culture, couples often show affection through physical touch rather than verbal expressions, and this series celebrates that unique form of love.

The illustrations in "True Love" use black and white colors to represent the complementary and harmonious nature of love. Drawing inspiration from the concept of "yin and yang," which describes the interconnectedness and balance of seemingly opposite forces, the illustrations showcase how two individuals, with their differences, come together to form a whole.

Created using ink, each illustration in the series measures 180mmx180mm, making them perfect for private collections, home decorations, or as illustrations for greeting cards or books. The aim of the series is to evoke feelings of warmth and love, reminding viewers of the beauty and power of human connection.

The creation of "True Love" began in January 2018 and was completed in February in Hong Kong. Throughout the process, the designer faced the challenge of visualizing the abstract concept of "yin and yang" without relying solely on the traditional tai chi symbol. By avoiding limited circular forms and focusing on balance and contrast in the layout, the illustrations successfully convey the essence of the concept.

Vicki Cheung Wing Yan, the talented illustrator behind "True Love," holds the intellectual property rights for the series. In recognition of its creativity and ingenuity, the series was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2019. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills while contributing to improvements in quality of life.
